Ridgewood, NJ – August 1, 2010 – Bariatric surgeon Beth Schrope, M.D., Ph.D., has been named Director of The Valley Hospital’s Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery.The Center is the BergenCounty site for the highly successful program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Schrope received a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from DrexelUniversity and her medical degree from TempleUniversity, both in Philadelphia.She completed a residency in general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Surgeons.
In addition to her position as Director of The Valley Hospital Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery, Dr. Schrope is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons, and an Attending Surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Schrope is joined in practice at Valley by Marc Bessler, M.D.; Daniel Davis, D.O.; Miguel Silva, M.D.; and Akuezunkpa Ude, M.D. all of whom are credentialed to perform bariatric surgery at The Valley Hospital.
In addition Dr. Schrope and her team, Valley’s bariatric surgeons also include Vadim Gritsus, M.D. and Edward Pucci, D.O.
The ValleyHospital’s Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery has been designated a Bariatric Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
