Program Objectives:

1. Discuss patient education research findings and evidence –based practices

to improve patient outcomes.

2. Identify ways to meet the learning needs of diverse populations.

The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Center for Professional Nursing Practice, is seeking abstracts for research, evidence-based practice and innovations in patient education for the Patient Education Symposium: The Art and Science of Patient Education on September 30, 2010. This will be a great opportunity to showcase your work.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Abstract Themes

·         Improving patient outcomes and patient safety

·         Implementing quality patient education

·         Measuring outcomes from patient education

·         Health literacy

·         Addressing cultural/religious needs

Abstract Content

1. Title of the presentation

2. Contact information of the author(s): name, address, phone, email, title and organization

3. Type of presentation

·         Clinical research presentation (15 minutes)

·         Evidence-Based Practice (15 minutes)

·         Best practice/innovation presentation (15 minutes)

 4. Abstract should be 350 words or less.
