Stamford, CT – July 20, 2010 – Stamford Hospital’s Orthopedic Services have earned Joint Commission certification for its Lumbar Spinal Fusion Program, making it the only Joint Commission-certified program in Connecticut.
“This certification verifies that our staff offers the highest possible quality and caliber of care to the community,” said Rudolph Taddonio, M.D.,
According to the
“What makes our program so unique is the continuous care our patients receive starting prior to hospitalization through their return to home,” said Vicki Hoffman, Director of the Orthopedic Institute. “Before surgery, patients learn about the procedure at educational classes, facilitated by our dedicated clinical nurse coordinator. After surgery, this coordinator continues to oversee patients during their hospital stay and follows up with them upon their return home. This way, patients are never left with questions about the procedure or what they should expect from their recovery. We have a focused program with a dedicated team of professionals, including anesthesia, nursing and therapists to name a few. All of our nurses have completed specialized training in the care of spine patients and several have gone on to achieve the status of Certified Orthopedic Nurse. I think all of this speaks to the team’s level of commitment to provide high quality care.”
After being evaluated on-site by a Joint Commission reviewer,
