"The Campaign for Villa Marie Claire is focused on acquiring supporters who understand the need for a residential hospice facility in Bergen County and are committed to making it a reality," said Kevin McCarthy, Executive Director for the Campaign. "Villa Marie Claire is an investment back to our community, one that will serve our families and neighbors for generations to come. The interest garnered from this event will hopefully help to raise the necessary funds for this important project."

330 guests enjoyed fine Italian wines, fine foods, and live music on the grounds of the 26-acre estate of the Villa. The New Jersey Chorale Society gave a special performance and a silent auction helped to raise additional funds for the campaign. Tours were also coordinated throughout the Villa so that guests could see first-hand the unique vision of the facility, including a inter-faith chapel, home-like patient and family rooms, common areas, tranquil gardens and outside grounds, and a wing dedicated to loved ones who can stay overnight at the Villa.

"Thanks to an incredible Benefit Committee, "An Evening in Tuscany" was a truly lovely evening introducing the Villa to new and local supporters," said Terrie O’Connor, event chairperson and member of the Campaign for Villa Marie Claire. "Once you have toured the Villa and learned its history and new vision, it is easy to become dedicated to such a significant endeavor. I am grateful for this opportunity and hope others will join me in a project that will undoubtedly serve so many families in our area."

Villa Marie is slated to open in the Fall of 2010 and will be the first free-standing inpatient hospice and palliative care facility in Northern New Jersey welcoming patients and families from all over Bergen County. The Villa will encompass compassionate family-centered programs and will offer the highest standard of care for hospice patients and their families.
