New York, NY – June 2010 - On April 1, 2010, Anthony J. Smith, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Medicine, announced the appointment of Fabio Giron, M.D., as Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Giron is an outstanding pulmonologist and critical care specialist who is admired by his patients for his professionalism in delivering the highest quality of care. Dr. Giron received his medical degree from SUNY at the Stony Brook School of Medicine, trained at New York University Medical Center and is board certified in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Giron brings with him his excellent clinical skills and fervor for the state-of-the-art management of the Intensive Care Unit. The Hospital is grateful to Lester W. Blair, M.D., for the experience and knowledge he brought to his outstanding service as Director of the Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Blair will continue as Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Smith also announced the appointment of Andy Huang, M.D., as Associate Division Chief of the section of Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Huang has been a member of the Hematology and Oncology Division at the Hospital since 2000. Dr. Huang received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, and went on to complete a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology also at NYU. He has been an invaluable part of our Hematology and Oncology Department, and is a respected member of our medical staff. He is devoted to the education of our resident staff and is admired by his colleagues.
