Nyack, NY – January 21, 2010 – The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, sponsored since 1984 by Nyack Hospital, offers support, education, and therapeutic activities to individuals affected by Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers. This free group meets every Wednesday morning from 9:45 – 11:30 am at the Raso Room at the Palisades Center.
Each week, a physical therapist from Nyack Hospital leads a one-hour exercise session especially designed for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. Members are encouraged to discuss any special problem they may have had during the week at this time, as well provide support and understanding to their fellow members. The caregivers meet separately and have an opportunity to share, discuss issues and receive assistance and support from others in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
As the only group of its kind in the tri-state region, the group welcomes people with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers from many communities. For further information about the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, please call 845.358.3128.
