New York Hospital Queens Doctor Receives Weill Cornell "Excellence in Teaching" Award

Flushing, NY – July 21, 2009 – Terence M. Brady, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.C.C.P., chairman, department of medicine, New York Hospital Queens, was honored at the 10th annual “Excellence in Teaching” awards recently by Weill Cornell Medical College.

 

Dr. Brady, who is also an assistant professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, was elected by medical students to receive the prestigious award for his “outstanding contributions as an educator in the medicine clerkship.”

Of the 25 awards issued to physicians, Dr. Brady, was the only instructor from a Queens hospital to be honored at the ceremony. As a third-year clerkship director, Dr. Brady meets with students once a week to where he offers advice and instruction as students rotate through different areas of clinical medicine.

 

“This award speaks to the fact that not only do we provide outstanding medical care at New York Hospital Queens, but we are also a center of excellence in academics and education,” Dr. Brady said. “It is a great privilege to help formulate the best practices for our future generation’s clinical medicine practitioners.”

 

President and Chief Executive Officer, Stephen S. Mills stated, “Dr. Brady consistently receives rave reviews from his peers and students. All of us at New York Hospital Queens are very proud to have him as a member of our medical and teaching faculty. He is truly deserving of this distinguished honor.”

 

Chief Medical Officer, Stephen Rimar, M.D., stated, “Students view Dr. Brady as a mentor who affords them the opportunity to develop their independence under his supervision. His ability to cultivate both their skills and self-confidence is invaluable to the ever-pressing demands on our medical students.”

 

Dr. Brady completed his own internship and residency in internal medicine here at New

York Hospital Queens in 1986. This was followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine. He has served at New York Hospital Queens for 25 years, and spent the last six years as chairman of the department of medicine.

 

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and an affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
