Stamford, CT - June 17, 2009 – Stamford Hospital held an open house on Tuesday to officially showcase its expanded services at 1500 Post Road in Darien. First Selectwoman Evonne Klein joined Hospital President and CEO Brian Grissler for the opening ceremony and tour of the facilities.
Based on the growing demand, the Hospital added outpatient rehabilitation services for musculo-skeletal disorders and a second practice location for Fairfield County Surgical Specialists, whose physicians have experience in general and pediatric surgery and surgical oncology. For added convenience, the facility also includes an expanded Lab Draw Station and office of Fairfield County Obstetrics & Gynecology. Patients will continue to have access to all the services previously offered at 1500 Post Road.
“These expanded services represent our latest commitment to provide Darien residents with access to the health services they need as close to home as possible,” said Grissler. “Our commitment began some 30 years ago with the dedicated Darien physicians who are part of the Stamford Hospital medical staff who have helped build and support our presence, respect and growth throughout the community.”
Stamford Hospital’s presence at 1500 Post Road began in the 1990s with two internal medicine practices, and later included selected imaging services and pediatric cardiology. In 2006, the Darien Imaging Center at 6 Thorndal Circle was opened to offer area residents a broader scope of imaging services such as digital mammography, bone density, CAT scan, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray.
In addition to the services offered at the Darien Medical Center and Darien Imaging Center, Stamford Hospital brings specialists from its medical staff to discuss the latest health topics at the Darien Community Association, Darien Library and Town Hall. The Hospital also partners with the Darien Health Department on numerous health initiatives, including providing flu shots every year. Stamford Hospital is a not-for-profit provider of comprehensive healthcare services in lower Fairfield County and the region.
The mission of Stamford Hospital is to provide, together with its physicians, a broad range of high quality health and wellness services focused on the needs of our communities. Stamford Hospital is a Magnet Hospital and a member of the Planetree Alliance, a group of hospitals nationwide focused on patient-centered care. Stamford Hospital is affiliated with New York Presbyterian Health System and is a major teaching affiliate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
