White Plains, NY – March 30, 2009 – Prom nights will soon be here and, in this economy, a quality prom dress need not cost a fortune. With this in mind, White Plains Hospital Center’s (WPHC) Piggy Bank Thrift Shop— sponsored by the Auxiliary of WPHC—will be running a special sale on prom dresses and jewelry and accessories for the special night throughout April. Located at 261 South Central Avenue, Hartsdale, the Piggy Bank Thrift Shop offers customers 25% discount on a wide range of prom dresses—all in excellent condition (slightly used and some new) and a 20% discount on all jewelry and accessories. Customers can choose from top quality vintage dresses, evening gowns, retro styles and trendy dresses.

For more than 50 years, the Piggy Bank Thrift Shop has been accepting and selling items for sale that are only in excellent condition.  Proceeds from all purchases at the Thrift Shop benefit the Hospital.

Charles Martinez, Manager of the Piggy Bank, said: “With prom dresses running as high as a couple of hundred dollars or more, we can provide today’s hard-pressed shoppers with significant savings.” He noted that the pre-discount prices range from $25 to $50. In addition, rings, bracelets and other jewelry cost from $6 to $20.

The Piggy Bank Thrift Shop is also noted for its knowledgeable staff of 12 volunteers. Dionne McCoy, the Piggy Bank supervisor, noted: “Many of the volunteers had careers in the fashion industry and have a great sense of style. They will be able to help the teenagers and their moms to coordinate the entire look for prom night.”

With prom purchases made at The Piggy Bank Thrift Shop, customers will also be entitled to a special discount on Prom Package limousine services offered by Yonkers-based Top Class Limousine.

The Piggy Bank Thrift Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, phone: (914) 682-1880. There is ample free parking.
