Nyack, NY - November 4, 2008 - A celebration luncheon was recently held to honor and recognize the extraordinary services that volunteers provide to Nyack Hospital throughout the year. One of the volunteers, Blauvelt resident Beatrice Reid, has performed over 5,000 hours of service to the Hospital over the past twenty years.
Beatrice started volunteering at Nyack Hospital in the early 1980's, and in 1985, she joined the Rockland County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Throughout the years, Bea volunteered in various departments, most recently in the Health Information Department.
Her contributions to Nyack Hospital are tremendous, and in honor of her work, Bea was named "2007 Volunteer of the year" by the RSVP. Over 1,200 people were on hand that day to recognize Bea, including her six children.
Bea finally retired from volunteer service earlier this fall, and looks forward to celebrating her 100th Birthday next June.
Helen Hayes-Perkins, Administrator, Patient Satisfaction and Volunteer Department at Nyack Hospital noted, "Bea is very dedicated and one of the most compassionate people I have ever known. She always has a smile and a joke to share."
Nyack Hospital is a 375-bed community acute care medical and surgical hospital located in Rockland County, NY. Founded in 1895, it is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. For additional information, please visit our web site at www.nyackhospital.org.
