New York, NY - November 14, 2008 - New York Downtown Hospital (Downtown Hospital) is proud to announce a new professional affiliation with the Weill Cornell Medical College (Weill Cornell) Department of Radiology. Effective November 14, 2008, and under the direction of Chairman Robert Min, M.D., Downtown Hospital will now share the resources of more than 40 Weill Cornell Radiologists with expertise in all areas of diagnostic and interventional radiology.
As an academic affiliate of the Weill Cornell Medical College and an affiliate member of the prestigious NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, Downtown Hospital continues to actively develop programs which will bring clinical excellence and some of the most sophisticated medical technology and procedures to the Downtown community.
Dr. Min observed, "Providing the best patient care requires constant equipment modernization and maintaining a state-of-the-art environment. The Department of Radiology at Weill Cornell has a long history of leadership in innovation and in the development of new technologies. We are pleased to bring our vast expertise and technological resources to Downtown Hospital."
Through the collaboration of talent and resources, Downtown Hospital continues to seek new ways to improve every aspect of patient care, with the goal of providing every patient the best possible treatment.

Under this new affiliation, the Department of Radiology will provide a full spectrum of quality imaging services with prompt, timely reporting consultations and state-of-the-art imaging technology to include cardiac CT angiography, digital mammography, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Additionally, Downtown Hospital was the recipient of an award from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation which will enable the hospital to acquire Lower Manhattan's first MRI machine for use by general public.
