Stamford, CT - June 26, 2008 - Stamford Hospital is pleased to announce Kathleen Silard, RN, BSN, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, and David Smith, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Market Development have been named Fellows of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation's leading professional society for healthcare leaders.
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. Of the more than 30,000 ACHE members internationally, only 7,500 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement.
Silard was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in April 2007. She began her career at Stamford Hospital in January 2003 as the Sr. Vice President of Operations. Silard is responsible for the day-to-day operations and functioning of the institution while overseeing the cardiology, orthopedic and women's health service lines, ambulatory, post acute and support services as well as construction and property management.
A resident of Greenwich, she holds a bachelor's of science degree in nursing from Herbert H. Lehman College and a master's degree in health care systems management from Iona College.
Smith joined Stamford Hospital in 2002 as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Market Development. He is responsible for overseeing strategic and facilities planning, marketing and corporate communications, regulatory affairs, managed care, business development, physician practice development and community outreach and education.
A resident of Ridgefield, Smith holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a master's of science degree in public health from the University of Missouri.
