North Bergen, NJ - June 12, 2008 - Good sleep is important for good health. But according to the National Sleep Foundation, 65% of Americans report that they do not get the six-to-eight hours of daily sleep that they need. In light of this startling statistic, Palisades Medical Center is proud of the achievements of its Sleep-Wake Center--the only center in Hudson County to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

As the leading voice in the field of sleep medicine, the AASM sets standards and promotes excellence in health care, education and research. Led by Gregory G. Magee, MD, the Sleep-Wake Center at Palisades' team of physicians and technologists work hard to diagnose and treat sleep disorders in adults and children so that they can enjoy better health and return to the activities that are most important to them.

"Our goal is to provide our patients with the help they need to get the rest that they need. Once they do, they can begin to enjoy their lives again," said Dr. Magee. "We offer a personalized and results-oriented approach to patients to help them achieve regular sleeping patterns that help improve their emotional and physical well being."

Creating a comfortable environment within the center is another key component of the Sleep-Wake Center, according to Dr. Magee. "Our goal is to make the patients feel at home and undergo observation in a relaxed manner. We take pride in providing our patients with comfortable hotel-like accommodations," said Dr. Magee.
