Bronxville, NY - January 8, 2008 - Lawrence Hospital Center is proud to announce the construction of a new and advanced Maternity wing that is due to open this summer.  Presently in the Maternity department, most mothers share a room after they give birth.  New moms and their babies can enjoy a more intimate experience in the new wing where there will be able to stay in 23 private rooms each with their own shower and flat screen TV.

In addition, the maternity wing was designed to resemble a home away from home for families.  There are relaxing colors, carpeting in selected areas, all new furnishings along with soft lighting and access to the Internet.  There are even big and comfortable chairs for dad to snuggle in with the baby.

The new space will also include our Level I Nursery.  It is more spacious than the existing nursery featuring modern equipment and the latest well baby technology.  In addition, Lawrence has installed a more sophisticated security system so that you and your family never have to worry about your baby's safety.  The Level II nursery which houses the hospital's Neonatology Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will remain on the fourth floor.

Lawrence is also adding two more labor rooms which will allow mothers to settle in faster and where they can prepare for the arrival of their little bundles of joy.  In all, the new maternity wing boasts more than 15,000 square feet of space.  That is 5,000 square feet larger than the existing department.
