Mt. Kisco, NY - January 15, 2008 - Hospitals are seeking a softer side, a place for patients and families not to have to give up comfort and dignity just because they need good medical care. At Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, for instance, there are programs for new siblings when their mothers give birth, compassionate nurses and relaxing surroundings as a cancer patient undergoes chemotherapy, artwork and soft background music, and refuges for exhausted family members to catch forty winks.

Along with about 125 hospitals in the United States, Northern Westchester Hospital, a full-service 233-bed facility, has been affiliated with Planetree, (www.planetree.org) a not-for-profit organization that is in the forefront of the movement to transform healthcare to the perspective of the patient.

Bronxville, NY - January 8, 2008 - Lawrence Hospital Center is proud to announce the construction of a new and advanced Maternity wing that is due to open this summer.  Presently in the Maternity department, most mothers share a room after they give birth.  New moms and their babies can enjoy a more intimate experience in the new wing where there will be able to stay in 23 private rooms each with their own shower and flat screen TV.

In addition, the maternity wing was designed to resemble a home away from home for families.  There are relaxing colors, carpeting in selected areas, all new furnishings along with soft lighting and access to the Internet.  There are even big and comfortable chairs for dad to snuggle in with the baby.

Jamaica, NY - January 7, 2008 - From digital labs and X-rays to electronic medical records (EMR), The Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is ahead of its long-term care peers when it comes to the electronic age in healthcare. Recently, Silvercrest has partnered with Precision Health, Inc. to provide digital X-rays and is also electronically connected to Charter Diagnostic Laboratory Services, a subsidiary of New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ). And this Spring, Silvercrest will unveil its new electronic medical record system.

The EMR implementation process has taken over a year, but soon Silvercrest staff will be able to input information onto a medical record at the bedside via small hand-held devices, computers set up in kiosks at nursing stations, or from laptops on medication and treatment carts. All relevant information will be immediately available to all clinical disciplines.
