Founded in 1917 in Harlem, The Hebrew Home at Riverdale offers a choice of residential healthcare, rehabilitation, palliative care, a senior housing community and The Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Research. The ElderServe Community Services Division provides overnight respite, homecare and adult day programs throughout the Bronx, Manhattan and Westchester. More than 3,000 older people and their families are served by the Hebrew Home every day.
The healthcare facilities offer a choice of settings where residents can enjoy their lives to the fullest in individualized, gracious and supportive environments. There are specialized neighborhoods for people who need minimum day-to-day assistance, neighborhoods for those who require sophisticated around-the-clock medical monitoring and intensive nursing care, as well as dedicated neighborhoods for people with other special needs. The short-term rehabilitation program offers an energizing and challenging environment with intensive daily rehabilitation therapy for people who are recuperating from post surgical conditions and other situations to help restore them to their highest level of functioning and independence, so that they can return safely to their own homes.
For people who stay in their own homes, ElderServe, the Hebrew Home's community services division, offers a full spectrum of health care and supportive services including rehabilitation services, personal care, housekeeping, medical and social adult day programs and a respite program. Caregiver support groups, counseling, information and referral to community health and legal resources are offered for family members as well.
