Amsterdam Nursing Home is a 409-bed state-of-the-art long term care facility which provides a full range of services, including comprehensive medical and nursing care, short and long term physical and occupational rehabilitation, speech therapy, social services and therapeutic recreation. Our staff of physicians is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Health Care System where residents are treated should they require hospitalization. Our rehabilitation staff is trained and provided by the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery. Through our affiliation with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York we offer compassionate hospice care.

Clinical issues and leisure time are considered to be equally important to residents well-being. This philosophy is evident throughout Amsterdam. Interdisciplinary teams that include therapeutic recreational therapists, coordinate and design treatment and activity programs with the individual in mind. Through the use of in-depth assessments, residents daily programs are arranged to address each persons needs and interests.

Adjacent to the nursing home is the Amsterdam Adult Day Health Care Program for older adults who live at home. Participants spend the day in programs designed to improve their physical and mental functions. These programs include medical care, physical and occupational therapies and social events including trips to area museums, the Julliard School, IMAX Theater, baseball games, shopping malls and more. The Adult Day Health Care Program is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 pm. Upon arrival participants enjoy a continental breakfast. Lunch is served at mid-day and dinners are available to take home. Round-trip transportation is provided to and from home and to medical appointments.
